- jackmeatDecember 10, 2025My quick rating - 4.0/10. It looks like a low-budget sci-fi flick that is going to rely on the story as opposed to fancy effects to entertain us. Desperate editing cannot hide the awful effects and stunts they are trying to play off as happening. Some of the worst fight scenes I have also ever seen. Putting aside the obvious budget restraints and bad decisions, they did come up with a good concept. Director Bruce Wemple presents a highly conceptual take on how his idea of time travel will work, but he doesn't trust that the audience can keep up with it. I only say that since he felt the need to use the character's eye color to clue you in on which version of them we were dealing with. Smart idea to play down to the audience, but also a bit insulting by telling them, "Yeah, you aren't going to get it." So, the general gist is that they are able to take a pill that allows them to jump 24 hours ahead into themselves while the future version jumps back. Memories are retained so they can set things up, and of course, they are going to use them for crime. A group of thieves that are setting up one big score by interacting with themselves a day ahead. That is the concept, and maybe you can see why they used the eye color thing. This helps if you are partially paying attention, but the effects are poor, so it also makes you giggle at the same time. I was into the story up until they overshot their abilities, such as the car chase, which was just SO bad. I don't understand why, during the editing process, they didn't look and see just how stupid the scene looked and cut it out. But after the credits rolled, all I could think was that if they were given a bit more talent and money, this really could've done well. Aside from Caitlin Duffy as the new recruit on the team, the rest of the actors were just "there." It gives you something to think about and even set up a sequel in case you found this one entertaining enough to find out what they may do with a week or a month of a time jump instead of just one day. And if things with this one go well, Wemple might have a bit more money to work with.
