Not the best adaptation of a Tom Clancy novel as far as acting and story goes. At I can say I watched it.

a nice little action thriller. young affleck is a bit stiff, but the veteran cast surrounding him is very good. the way the top level people and their infights are portrayed when faced with decisions of massive consequences is really cool. worth a watch

Enjoyable movie. Missing these types of movies.

While not the best "Jack Ryan-verse" movie, it's definitely still an above-average action-thriller. Affleck is solid as a CIA analyst thrust into a situation out of his depth, though Freeman and Cromwell are the real acting highlights, unsurprisingly. The underlying plot is pretty far-fetched in general, but the plausibility of something along these lines does seem to be feeling more possible every year. If you're in the mood for some globe-spanning political intrigue with a decent splash of action, you could do worse than "The Sum of All Fears".

This could be real, given the ratchet that a recent American administration gave to historic tensions between America and Russia. It has it all - a Deep State in both America and Russia, Middle Eastern terrorists all too willing to play cat's paws, a nuclear attack and a Presidential assassination attempt rolled into one, and one man dedicated to preserving peace and finding the actual truth before the Deep State can sweep it aside in a tsunami of hate. The ending is perfect. Watch it now, if you want to see how easily people can manipulate the President himself. Ben Affleck is an excellent Jack Ryan. James Cromwell (The General's Daughter) plays a gung-ho President ripe for manipulation. Morgan Freeman turns in one of his finest performances as Ryan's dying boss, equally dedicated to peace. Break out your popcorn and settle in. You will not look at geopolitics the same way ever again, unless you already know what Tom Clancy was talking about.

Its Tom Clancy, whats to say his stuff is great his stories are predictable, ridiculous BUT always entertaining.

Keeps a steady pace and holds your attention, with Ben Affleck solid as Jack Ryan. Some plot points are predictable, and a few scenes drag, but the action and tension mostly hit. The nuclear stakes add real weight, making the suspense feel urgent. Not a masterpiece, but it’s a solid thriller that’s worth a watch.

A good 2k style US vs. Russia movie. In my opinion it deserves a 6.8 in IMDB. You can also see Morgan Freeman laughing.

This film is the 4th installment of the “Jack Ryan” series of films based on author Tom Clancy novels that carry the same name. Ben Affleck plays Jack Ryan in this action drama whom gets inadvertently caught into international intrigue in which he must perform heroic efforts to prevent calamity from happening. The film is enjoyable from that standpoint. Tom Clancy has a consistent plot and theme style that is quite prevalent in this novels and this clearly comes out in this film as well. This movie just barely meets the level of expectation and excitement of the previous Jack Ryan films despite some high profile acting include performances from Morgan Freeman and James Cromwell. The movie still has merit especially given some wonderful acting scenes by Liev Schreiber so you should enjoy the film.

One of my favourite of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan book series and yet the movie seemingly ignored the book. Rather than follow the events of Clear and Present Danger this movie takes us back to the beginning of Ryan’s career. Overall the movie isn’t bad but it’s NOT Tom Clancy’s Sum of All Fears.
