The Suicide Squad Ratings & Reviews
- Kristian Odland3d agoThis is James Gunn’s best comic book movie! No contest!
- Mr. DFebruary 18, 2025Surprised like hell that I like this.
- Manuel FrangisApril 13, 2025I just watched The Suicide Squad, and I give it 4 out of 5 stars. This movie is loud, messy, violent, and completely unhinged — and somehow, that is exactly why it works. It is like a giant comic book exploded in the best way. It is not trying to be polished or serious. It is just pure chaos, and for a movie like this, that actually feels refreshing. Right away, it is clear that this is not your typical superhero movie. The characters are wild. The action is nonstop. And it does not take itself seriously for even a second. James Gunn knows exactly what kind of movie he is making here, and he leans all the way into it. The humor is dark, the tone is unpredictable, and it keeps surprising you over and over. The cast is packed with weird and over the top characters, and somehow they all fit together. Idris Elba is great as Bloodsport. He plays it cool but also brings some emotion to the role that makes you care. Margot Robbie is once again awesome as Harley Quinn. She is unpredictable, hilarious, and has some of the most entertaining scenes in the whole movie. John Cena as Peacemaker is another standout. He plays the character so seriously that it ends up being hilarious. The way they all bounce off each other is one of the movie’s biggest strengths. The action is crazy. There are explosions, wild weapons, and fight scenes that go all out. Some of it is brutal, some of it is just plain ridiculous, and some of it is actually pretty clever. The visuals are colorful and wild. It feels like a graphic novel came to life, but in a way that still has heart underneath all the madness. The movie is also surprisingly emotional in certain moments. Even though the characters are mostly criminals or complete oddballs, the movie finds a way to make you care about them. It gives just enough backstory or connection between characters to keep you invested, even if you are laughing or cringing at the same time. That balance between chaos and heart is what makes it stand out from other action movies. The pacing is strong. It moves fast and does not waste time. There are a lot of characters and subplots, but it never feels like it is dragging. The story is simple enough to follow, even with all the insanity going on. And just when you think it cannot get any weirder, it does. I give The Suicide Squad 4 out of 5 stars because it is fun, fast, and full of personality. It is not perfect, but it is one of the most entertaining comic book movies I have seen in a while. Overall The Suicide Squad is a wild ride that delivers big laughs, big action, and a whole lot of unexpected moments. It is not for everyone, but if you like your superhero movies loud, violent, and full of weird characters doing even weirder things, this one absolutely delivers.
- Nathan MagretaJuly 22, 2025This movie is a lot more silly than the first, but James Gunn did his magic and made a great movie despite it being super silly
- JameslikesmoviesJuly 24, 2025I think this movie was a great rehash of the suicide that we got before that was arguably bad. But in my opinion I think James Gunn did a really good job with this movie.
- EvilbeastyJuly 23, 2025Enjoyed it more than the first one.
- jadennnnnnJuly 10, 2025king shark is the cutest motherfucker of all time
- JoelJuly 10, 2025Felt like my 4.5 rating was a bit high for this movie so had to rewatch before my James Gunn ranking. Happy to confirm that this movie still absolutely slaps. Gunn just knows what he’s doing. Now I’m just wondering if he’ll bring Margot back as Harley Quinn or not for the DCU thought.
- JacobJuly 22, 2025I thought The Suicide Squad would be a fun movie to watch on my 23rd birthday. Plus, I was wanting to rewatch it after seeing Superman (2025). James Gunn is very good at writing complex characters, whether they’re humans, animals.. sharks… whatever they are, he will make you care deeply about them, even if they commit horrible acts. That’s what James Gunn does best, IMO. He makes you FEEL. Additionally, this movie has great song choices and cinematography. As I’ve mentioned before, James Gunn’s comedy doesn’t always match my taste, so when there’s a scene with twenty jokes, one after another, it can be difficult for me to sit through them. If you're looking for an R-RATED summer movie with stylized action, a cool English guy, and a shark that murders people… watch this. Wait— why are you putting on The Meg? What’s wrong with you???
- jackmeatJuly 13, 2025My quick rating - 7.4/10. Glad I revisited Tromeo & Juliet since The Suicide Squad is a huge budget Troma film from start to finish. How else do you explain a giant starfish destroying a city as part of the finale, Godzilla style? Minus gratuitous nudity and way over the top jokes, this is exactly what Troma is known for. The cast of characters in this one is so oddball, it is perfect. And substitute the usual over-the-top violence instead, and you have the makings of a new form of superhero movie. Gunn did not shy away from blood splattering and body parts flying, even if it was the forever good guy John Cena doling it out. This is definitely a sequel to the much-maligned Suicide Squad by David Ayer from 2016. Both Margot Robbie and Viola Davis return in their same roles and are still excellent in them. Let's face it, no one should play Harley Quinn again. The rest of the squad are new and yet still do such a great job of playing off one another. I could name more, but the list is long. Still the same basic idea, though of a group of super villains being tasked to take down the bad guy when the government cannot handle the task. The scenes are so smooth, and the cinematography is top-notch. This is really a different DC movie in every aspect from what Snyder and others have brought us, but that is such a good thing. It is crazy, gory, and so much fun from start to finish. I am just glad they did NOT tone this down to PG-13 since I believe James Gunn had it set in his mind this was an adult comic coming to life. He surely has come a long way from his Troma time, but he still was able to Weasel in his brother Sean Gunn and bring us a real gem. It definitely should be on your radar if you are into something totally different from the normal flick.
- charliesimon778May 14, 2025I thought this movie was amazing how it had different characters except for Harley Quinn and Colonel Rick Flag than the first one. I thought that it was amazing how the whole squad was fighting Starro the Conquer which was the villain. The most thing that I really enjoyed about this movie was seeing Harley Quinn played by Margot Robbie being a princess in this movie and her new costume. I really liked her performances in the movie. I would rate Margot Robbie’s performances and acting 11 out of 10 stars because I thought she did an outstanding job playing Harley Quinn.
