In 1890 England a doctor, in order to cure his wife's "sick mind", injects her with snake venom. She later gives birth to a daughter the villagers begin to call "The Devil's Baby". They soon burn the family's house down. Years later a Scotland Yard detective is sent to the village to investigate a rash of deaths that are caused by snakebite.

The Snake Woman. Black and wnite. 67 minutes. A movie made in Britain. 1961. . In short, at 67 minutes this mini-movie is about 52 minutes too long. . The first 12 twelve minutes are creepy and unsettling. The next eight minutes show action and promise. . Then, Scotland Yard comes on the scene to investigate kiillings by snake bites. At this point, whatever atmosphere of horror that might have been evaporates and disappears. The movie flatlines. The characters are "British chaps" who talk about what's happening. . Watch only the first 20 minutes and call it a night. Review by Charles Ynfante.
