This story, about the extraordinary Princess Alice, sheds more light on how Prince Philip turned out than anything else. Born at Windsor Castle, Alice married into the Greek royal family and continued her close association with the country until her death. She was deaf, courageous and single-minded, but suffered a mental illness that caused her painful separation from her only son, Philip.
