During the Ming Dynasty, scholar Wang Chongwen (Gao Yuan) was a scholar at the age of 14, but he never passed the provincial examination. After having obtained the provincial examination, he approached again. He was afraid of losing his reputation in Sun Shan and began to ask God for advice. One day, he was instructed by a Taoist priest. He went out in the middle of the night and walked to the northwest. When he came to a ruined temple called Kuixingge, he didn't meet the noble person mentioned by the Taoist priest, but he saw a beautiful woman (Zhu Hong) who was crying, and then the beauty disappeared magically. When Wang Chongwen, who was disappointed, came home, the beauty came from heaven to earth, and she called herself Mei Niang, the daughter of the examiner after having obtained the provincial examination. Wang Chongwen was overjoyed after hearing this, and wanted to use her to rise to the top. With the deepening of feelings with Mei Niang, Wang Chongwen's eyes became more and more intolerant of his wife, Chen (Chen Juanjuan), and he was driven out of the house. Chen wanted to commit suicide, but was rescued by Wang Chongwu (Weng Wu), his brother-in-law, who was studying martial arts abroad. After hearing her crying, the latter went home to find out. Soon, he and his brother saw a terrible scene.
