The New Mutants Ratings & Reviews
- alextcFebruary 19, 2026I didn’t completely dislike it, but it’s not something I’d ever watch again. It feels like a mashup of X‑Men and a League of Legends cinematic: decent effects, low effort elsewhere. The acting is often weak, the story is thin, and the tone is all over the place. On top of that, the push for “woke” romance between what look like kids in a movie clearly aimed at younger audiences feels inappropriate and forced.
- jackmeatFebruary 10, 2025My quick rating - 5.6/10. When expectations due to delays happen, you really want to knock it out of the park when the movie finally is released. That didn't happen. From what came out and what was reshot, I don't know, but this was supposedly the more frightening version. The less horror and more "hero" version of the movie was scrapped for this. I think they fell in between those two visions. I am not saying this was bad at all, just was not what I hoped for. The heroes won't become household names with kids collecting their figures which is part of what this comic was about. The lesser-known and misunderstood heroes. Anya Taylor-Joy plays Illyana Rasputin and is about the only one that stood out to me. In this story, the mutants are held in a compound for testing and understanding their abilities. Of course, that is just a cover for the Essex corporation to get their DNA and use this to create killers out of them and others. If not a comic book fan, you actually may like this even more since the characters themselves are developed well. I think there was more room for this trilogy to grow, and I believe you can kiss the trilogy idea goodbye, both at the same time. The action was decent when it happened and scares had a good shot if they didn't get limited. A lot of potential wasted IMO.
- Danny Potter-JonesAugust 24, 2025Some people might dislike this adaptation of characters from the X-Men probably because you may not know them. It had struggles to get released but I thought it was pretty good the horror aspect made it different. Magik was the best and closest portrayal of a character I've ever seen in the X-Men universe in live action besides Deadpool.
- naarfFebruary 11, 2026Banking a little on xmen but it's a wannabe psychological thriller with 6 actors
- RogerLBFebruary 1, 2026It’s ok. Shame they didn’t continue the series.
- QB!KJanuary 13, 2026Pretty interesting standalone story
- Steven SchwalgerJanuary 1, 2026This was crap. Don't waste your time. There is nothing redeeming in this movie at all just a total flop.
- Harish CousalDecember 12, 2025A small, contained story with a quiet, eerie vibe. The horror angle works in moments but never fully blooms. The young cast has charm, even when the plot drifts. Okay overall — not great, not terrible, just a decent watch
- LakariNovember 4, 2025Terrible movie but still better than Dark Phoenix
- NonPlayableContentOctober 25, 2025Weak story because the whole thing is clear as crystal once you put 2(creepy hospital locked down) and 2(this universe has severe mutant haters and a fucked up government) together. The visuals look made for TV classic. Could have and should have been a grander event but the movie falls flat even on rewatches.
- RichardOctober 7, 2025Knew the characters going in, which made this even more frustrating. There’s real potential here, great cast, solid setup and some bold choices, but it never fully commits. Tries to be horror, teen drama and X-Men origin story all at once and ends up feeling unsure of itself. Illyana’s portrayal is spot-on, easily the standout, but the rest feel underused or flattened. You can tell there was a better version buried somewhere in the concept. Not terrible, just disappointing, especially knowing how rich these characters could’ve been.
- Ana Kaja PremerlAugust 26, 2025Well it was a bit boring and certianly it is not for children. Bit it was ok. Plot twist wasnt big cuz u know. The facility with one doctor- instant suspicious vines i guess
- Ken KaniffAugust 21, 2025It's a much smaller scope Marvel movie, but that's okay. I didn't really have a problem with anything. Also understand it's a movie about teens.. but I thought it was alright. The bad reviews are undeserved.
- BigDumbYakJuly 6, 2025An excellent entry into the X-Men world. Watch it if you like when superheroes have personality as well as cool fight scenes.
- arikb8June 8, 2025Probably one or the better x-men related movies in years. too bad it flew under the radar without name recognition.
