Where to Watch The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter
- BurnharmAugust 25, 2026The NeverEnding Story II doesn't quite have the magic of the first film for me. The story isn't as strong, and although it continues to draw from Michael Ende's book, I still prefer the original adaptation. The change of actors is also a little confusing, especially when you're returning to characters you already know. That said, I have a huge soft spot for this movie because I saw it as a child. The visual effects still have a certain charm, and I obviously have to mention John Wesley Shipp, who I loved seeing in it. But more importantly, this is one of those films that means more to me because of what it led to. The NeverEnding Story II was the movie that made me want to read the book, and in a way it helped get me into reading. That gives it a place in my childhood that goes beyond whether it's a great sequel or not. Watching it again, I can see that it's not as good as I remembered, but the nostalgia is real, and I still enjoy the journey it represents for me.
