The Longest Yard Ratings & Reviews
- Manuel FrangisMarch 26, 2025I just watched The Longest Yard and I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. This movie is a mix of sports action, prison comedy, and classic Adam Sandler-style humor. It’s not trying to be deep or serious, and that’s kind of the point. It knows exactly what it is—loud, goofy, and full of one-liners—and if you’re in the mood for something like that, it’s a solid time. Adam Sandler plays Paul Crewe, a former NFL quarterback who ends up in prison after making a few bad decisions. Once he’s locked up, he gets pulled into organizing a football game between the inmates and the guards. The setup is simple, but it works. The whole movie builds up to that one game, and along the way, you get a bunch of crazy characters, training montages, trash talk, and a lot of lowbrow jokes. Sandler does a good job in the lead, balancing his usual laid-back charm with some tougher moments that actually feel believable. He’s not playing it totally silly like in some of his other comedies—he’s got more edge here, and it fits the story. You can tell he’s having fun, especially when he’s interacting with the rest of the team. The supporting cast is where the movie really stands out. You’ve got Chris Rock bringing the jokes, Terry Crews handing out cheeseburgers, and a bunch of pro wrestlers and athletes thrown in for good measure. Everyone’s playing a different kind of ridiculous character, but they all fit together somehow. The chemistry between the team makes it easy to root for them, even if the humor doesn’t always land. The football scenes are actually pretty fun to watch, especially the big game at the end. It’s over-the-top in the best way, with huge hits, crazy plays, and tons of payback moments that feel earned. It’s not trying to be realistic—it’s all about giving the audience something wild to cheer for. If you’re into sports movies with big energy and crowd-pleasing moments, this game delivers. The comedy is very hit or miss. Some jokes are funny and catch you off guard, while others just feel dated or too forced. If you’ve seen a lot of mid-2000s comedies, you know the kind of humor this one brings. There are moments that made me laugh, and others where I just rolled my eyes and waited for the next scene. It’s not the most clever movie, but it does have a few great lines. The story isn’t anything new, and you can pretty much guess where it’s going from the start. But it’s not really about the twists—it’s about the underdogs coming together, taking on the system, and finding something worth fighting for. And in that sense, it does the job. You’ll find yourself rooting for the team even if everything else feels a little silly. I give The Longest Yard 3.5 out of 5 stars because it’s a fun, rewatchable comedy with heart. It’s not perfect, but the cast is entertaining, the football scenes are solid, and it brings just enough charm to make it worth your time. Overall The Longest Yard is a decent sports comedy with a stacked cast, some big laughs, and a wild final game that makes the whole ride worth it. It’s not one of Sandler’s best, but it’s one of his most fun.
- 匚卂尺ㄥFebruary 7, 2025Ignore the Rotten Tomato goons who gave a 31% and GO WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!!! LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. So many great laughs. Many will roll their eyes at yet another Adam Sandler movie, but he works well alongside the supporting cast. Frankly, the supporting cast outshined Sandler and had me laughing the hardest. And while The Longest Yard was filled with solid comedy, it turned out to be a surprisingly feel good movie that will have you cheering for the characters till the very end. YOU WILL NOT REGRET WATCHING THIS!!!! I could say a thousand more things I loved about this movie, but I'd rather you watch it with fresh eyes. Seriously tho go watch it. **By the way, I have NEVER given a public review on Google before, but as soon as the credits rolled I hopped on here to give my review. It was too good to not let the people of the world know about. Definitely a Saturdays for the Boys movie. Or a watch by yourself movie too, to each their own:)**
