- Tenjei6 grudnia 2025This has become an annual Christmas movie for the season. I remember coming out of the theater loving this movie and it hasn’t lost its luster one bit. Geena Davis is outstanding along with my favorite Samuel L. Jackson role. Fantastic dialog, action, and story for anyone that enjoys a good action movie. Merry Christmas Mutha F*#kers!!!
- jackmeat5 marca 2025My quick rating - 6.7/10. I don't typically associate this one with Christmas as much as I should, but Plex saw it in the new releases (1080P upgrade), so may as well multitask. Plus, I haven't reviewed this one here either. Since Samuel L. Jackson goes along with the Xmas theme and this movie uses Christmas lights as tools and weapons. Why not an action flick that stars Geena Davis as your everyday mom in a small town who just happened upon the side of a river 8 years before, pregnant with NO memory of who she was. This plot gadget has been used quite a few times before, but here the on-screen chemistry carries it above most of the others. Slowly her past begins to come back, but when she is recognized on TV by someone who knows her past, it all is forced to be brought back up before it gets her killed. Jackson is a private detective and has been hired to figure out who she was when clues start popping up about who she might be. Part of the fun is with his character not taking any of the real-life of Davis seriously and making fun of that, and in some ways, the whole movie under his breath. It does have some overly complicated villains at every turn that do, at times, slow down the plot. But even when trying to feed in too many bad guys, it cannot be slowed down with over-the-top action scenes that keep you engaged entirely. Completely contrived yet done in such a stylistic way that you most likely won't bat an eye at some of its ridiculous scenes. The humor is on target, and the entertainment value is spot on. Making it a nice one to add to a Christmas action triple feature.
- Q_Prof3 stycznia 2026Started off a bit slow, but wow did this story take off quick, "Die Hard" style into full action, comedy, suspense, shootout. Jackson and Davis with their polar opposite characters, made this very fun to watch. Not really about Christmas, but it was there in the background just like Die Hard 1 & 2, so if you want something different for the season, it will work.

Geena Davis’ Charlie Baltimore is more satire than serious, yet her performance resonates with curious effectiveness. Charlie Baltimore is crass, flippant, and over-the-top, yet she is funny, shocking and strangely appealing. Samuel Jackson is, well, Samuel Jackson - but this role came before most of his more well-known roles. He’s the real comic relief in this boilerplate spy shoot ‘em up. Brian Cox is the cynical, seen-it-all brains behind Charlie Baltimore’s unexpected disappeared, and revival. The “bad guys” are expectedly cookie-cutter, and over-the-top, and the ending is straight out of the boiler-plate Hollywood scripts but it’s a comic book romp that works for me. It’s fun, and Davis is great in this role that was way out of her range.
