- Kevin WardJuly 2, 2025Daniel Day Lewis Michael Mann historical epic with a rousing score, and cinematic battle sequences. Despite ranging into the melodramatic, I felt the romance gave the narrative something to anchor the film emotionally. This made me miss seeing not only Daniel Day Lewis but also Madeleine Stowe. Maybe the upcoming show Return to Derry will mark a comeback for the star.
- 匚卂尺ㄥFebruary 20, 2025Daniel Day - Lewis does an excellent job portraying Hawkeye. His family was killed and he was adapted by a Mohawk, he also has an adapted brother. The film takes place during the French British Wars. Wes Studi plays a great role and at first he aids the British. Madelaine Stowe and her sister are rescued by Lewis along with a British officer and they take the 2 females to Fort Henry under siege by the French and natives. The colonial soldiers were told by the British they could return to their homes to defend them but Stowe's father who is in charge relents due to the pressures of the French attack. The French general offers generous terms and the fort is surrrended and the British leave the fort, the natives led by Wes Studi attack the British and slaughter them, Lewis saves the 2 women and British officer and try to escape followed Wes Studi and his followers. Very exciting film and highly recommended.
