- Richard DavisAugust 17, 2026Not just a great film. This is one of the best films ever made. Ever. It's easily the best crime caper ever made. This is a masterpiece from Collinson and Caine. It was so 'of it's moment', mixing brilliant humour, fabulous action (the getaway is simply a joy to behold and one of those things you can watch endlessly), mixed in with a healthy dose of 'Cool Britannia'. This should be on your bucket list of the greatest films to see before you die.
- CubaneAugust 7, 2026There are a lot of heist movies from the 60s that have aged beautifully. This... is not one of them. It tries to be several things, and succeeds at none of them. The heist feels wooden and lacks stakes. The chase is ok but pretty far behind the likes of Bullitt. And the comedy I struggle to imagine anyone ever found to be funny. It ends up feeling farcical and myopic.
