- Rob MacKinnonJune 20, 2025I remember this being funnier when I saw it theatrically. Memory is a fickle beast. This has cheap FX, ugly robots and a surprisingly convoluted plot. It also has Angelica Huston and Ron Perlman in early supporting roles, which is good. And the titular pirates do perform a fair amount of swashbuckling. I appreciated the effort to stick to the concept. However, no space comedy should ever contain the “n” word, even in 1984. The time warp bit was kinda funny I guess…
