I first saw The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy on TV, and it was… okay. It’s fun, it’s colorful, and it definitely tries to capture the spirit of Douglas Adams, but it never quite hits the same spark as the original versions. If you grew up with the book, the radio play, or even the old BBC series, this one feels a bit more polished and a bit less weird and the weirdness is half the charm of Hitchhiker’s. Martin Freeman makes a solid Arthur Dent, constantly confused and slightly annoyed at the universe and Sam Rockwell goes all‑in as Zaphod with that chaotic, over the top energy. The Vogons look great, the effects are fun and the movie keeps the tone light and playful. But there’s something about the pacing and the humor that feels more like a modern studio adaptation than the wonderfully odd, dry and unpredictable style of the original. It’s still enjoyable, especially as a casual TV watch, but it doesn’t replace the earlier versions. It’s more of a “nice to revisit once in a while” kind of film, entertaining, but missing that uniquely strange spark that made the original Hitchhiker’s so special

When i was a kid this movie made me questioned the meaning of the universe and made me start reading books. As many may know the movie originated from the book.

A reasonably good adaption, though I prefer the TV show. Casting choices are quite good, especially Rickman as Marvin.

Full of British humor and all-around silliness. Brilliant!

A pretty good telling of a great story. Decent graphics.

If im being honest I only rewatch this movie for Zooey Deschanel. But it's seriously a great movie full of dry humour. I love it

Story great of course - production just between too low for the quality of the performances and too high to be camp. The love the actors have for the material is evident, and I share it - but unfortunately comes off more as fan service than a serious attempt to make this material work as anything other than a celebration of the books / radio series.

Truly funny. Like gut bustingly funny. Every character is well played by the actor. And they loved doing it.
