The Hanging Sun Ratings & Reviews
Mister Arn
May 19, 2025
"The Hanging Sun" cleverly uses the contrast of constant daylight to mirror the characters' inner struggles, adding depth to many scenes. While this enhances the story's emotional weight, the pacing is slow, prioritizing moral dilemmas over action. I found the story engaging, but this film may leave you wanting more if you're seeking fast-paced thrills.
Common Sense Media
Danny Brogan
There are also some bizarre directorial choices. None more so than the decision to give young Caleb a jarring posh English accent.
Deadline Hollywood Daily
Anna Smith
The Hanging Sun is a workable and good-looking thriller, but it stays on the surface rather than staying with you.
Variety
Jessica Kiang
It might be set during 24-hour daylight, but there's a low-energy listlessness about "The Hanging Sun" that makes one drowse and check one's watch to see if it might not be way past bedtime.
