The Ghost Writer Ratings & Reviews
- LORCAN KILROYAugust 27, 2025This is one of the best movies ever made.On a par with Citizen Kane or Lawrence of Arabia or On The Waterfront. Perfect casting, acting, direction, art design, script/story. Polanski's under appreciated masterpiece.
- mandersoOctober 9, 2025Book was pretty good. This was as good, if not better. This trimmed down the fat considerably and I enjoyed the ending more than the books. Also great casting.
- StairwaytothestarsAugust 2, 2025The Ghost Writer has nothing on the book that it's meant to be writing, and has empty pages flying high until it hits the ground. The movie's slow pace makes its billing as a thriller deceiving. A slog from Roman Polanski's Nog!
- Luke MacLennanOctober 4, 2025The Ghost Writer is an uneventful movie about a man revising a rather tedious manuscript. He spends most of the movie worrying about grammar errors and chapter structures made by his predecessor. This is a good movie for people who think semi colons are high drama. Luckily I am such a person. The third act includes a compelling argument between our hero, the ghost writer, and the villain, his client's wife. The row between this about whether or not its a good idea to use incomplete sentences for dramatic effect. Riveting stuff. I rate this movie a 4 out of 5 stars. Frankly the subplot about the CIA and terrorism was a bit of a bore. The film needed less politics and more prose.
