The Family Plan Ratings & Reviews
- Karisma PuteraJuly 20, 2025Solid enjoyable flick. Not much depth to it, but that was never the expectation. Funny and bunch of fighting
- fire3406May 29, 2025Suburban family llife soaked in teen tropes and cliche, padded with action movie sound cues.
- Mister ArnMay 22, 2025"The Family Plan" starts with an amusing idea, but overuses keeping it from his family. They got hooked on this one joke and kept returning to it. It's decent enough for a one-time watch, but I wouldn't put it on my rewatch list or tell others to check it out. It had potential, but couldn't keep the momentum.
- Manuel FrangisApril 8, 2025I just watched The Family Plan, and I give it 3 out of 5 stars. This movie is kind of exactly what it looks like. It is a mix of action, comedy, and family drama all rolled into one with a plot that does not take itself too seriously. It is not groundbreaking or anything, but it is entertaining enough if you just want something light and easy to watch. Definitely one of those "turn your brain off and enjoy the ride" kind of movies. Mark Wahlberg plays a suburban dad who is secretly a former assassin. He is living a normal life with a wife and kids who have no idea about his past. Of course, his old life comes back to haunt him, and he is forced to go on the run with his entire family. That setup has been done before, but it still works for what this movie is going for. It is not about being original. It is about having fun with the situation. Wahlberg brings that usual mix of tough guy charm and awkward dad energy. Some of the jokes hit, some of them are a little flat, but he does a good job carrying the movie. His chemistry with the rest of the cast is solid, especially when things start to spiral and he has to keep pretending everything is fine. His character is trying to juggle family drama and dangerous hitmen at the same time, and that alone gives the movie its funniest moments. The action scenes are decent. Nothing over the top, but enough to keep things moving. You get some chase scenes, hand to hand fights, and big stunts, but all of it feels pretty light and easygoing. It is not trying to be gritty or super intense. It is just trying to entertain, and for the most part, it does. The action is spaced out nicely, so you never go too long without something happening. The family dynamic is a big part of the story. Some of it is cheesy, but there are also a few moments that feel pretty real. The kids are not just background characters. They each have little storylines, and while not all of them are super deep, it is enough to make the family feel like an actual family. Michelle Monaghan plays the wife, and she brings a lot of balance to the chaos around her. Her character does not get a ton of depth, but she holds her own in the middle of everything. Where the movie kind of falls short is in how predictable everything is. You can pretty much guess every beat before it happens. That does not ruin it, but it does keep it from being great. The villains are forgettable, and some of the humor feels like it came from an earlier era. There is also a lot of dialogue that is just okay—not terrible, but not sharp either. I give The Family Plan 3 out of 5 stars because it is fun and easy to watch, but nothing you have not seen before. It has just enough laughs and action to keep things moving, but not enough to make it really stand out. Overall The Family Plan is a solid watch if you are in the mood for something light, simple, and a little silly. It is not trying to be deep. It just wants to entertain for a couple of hours, and it mostly does that.
