- stuhannaford13. dubna 2026Wonderful. A testament to Fiennes, Mulligan and James that a story about an excavation in pre WWII Britain can keep you invested and interested for so long. Fiennes is, as usual, impossible not to gravitate towards, and creates a complex, downtrodden, interesting, humble and compassionate man. However, the fact that Mulligan and James are able to effectively compete with his performance, is all the more impressive. Easily two of my favourite actresses, and their presence is a real draw, both equally brilliant throughout, creating a deep human connection with their characters. The story itself, for me, was very little about the dig, and more the journey of the people within it. Whilst each has very different issues, the core of each focusses on the passing of time, mortality and a perhaps bygone era of what is really important in life... something that will likely resonate with most, no matter their age or background. Those little things that bring happiness and hope, the way different people find enjoyment, how we can all find comfort and value in things perhaps insignificant to others. Put perfectly, it's about the 'moments you should seize.' Highly recommended.
