First of all, forget the IMDb score you saw, it means nothing. This film should be viewed in conjunction with "House of 1000 Corpses" and/or the whole "Firefly" collection. That being said, if you have done that, and you still don't understand why this is one of if not thee greatest slasher horror collections of all time, then I challenge your understanding of the genre. This is a masterpiece in art direction and perfectly pays tribute to the beloved marriage of rock & roll and 'slasher' horror in practice as well as the soundtrack. With the implementation of two of humanity's most diabolical fears: the circus nightmare angle and the original psycho-southern "took a wrong turn" angle that the film's inspiration "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was critically acclaimed for. In his film debut Rob Zombie manages to transcend his music stylie to the silver screen with a sense of art direction you might expect from a 70's veteran. "House of 1000 Corpses" plays out almost like an intro to the pièce de résistance that is "The Devil's Rejects" so be sure and watch them together. You can even throw in "3 From Hell" after a break if you get a chance, but it's more of a 'post script' and certainly not required. "Like Clowns don't cha?" 🤡🔪🩸 House of 1000 Corpses: 8/10 Devil's Rejects: 9.6/10 Firefly Collection 9.1/10

It's an audacious piece of filmmaking, but after a while it grows exhausting to watch, particularly when it becomes clear that violence is going to lead to more violence without much story or conscience surfacing.
Rolling Stone
Peter Travers
Indefensible on a moral level, Rob Zombie's perversely watchable follow-up to his much-reviled cult hit House of 1000 Corpses is loaded with filmmaking energy.
Ebert & Roeper
Richard Roeper
It has to be the sickest, the most twisted, the most deranged movie so far this year. And I'm giving it thumbs up because it's very good at what it wants to be.
Austin Chronicle
Marc Savlov
The year's most viciously entertaining psycho-road- movie-revenge- 'n'-wreckage- romance.
Zap2it.com
Daniel Fienberg
Yes, The Devil's Rejects had me squirming in my seat and looking to darkened corners of the theater for respite from the on-screen violence, but so what?
MovieFreak.com
Sara Michelle Fetters
If that's your cup of tea, more power to you. Personally, I'm pretty sure I've got a toilet to scrub which is sure a better use of my time than sitting through The Devil's Rejects once again.
Boxoffice Magazine
Tim Cogshell
In a league of classic films that are legendary for how disconcerting they are.
Washington Post
Stephen Hunter
The movie turns quickly into a somewhat clumsily handled chase structure, with no clear point or end.
Seattle Times
Jeff Shannon
Despite some giddy humor and a soundtrack of '70s Top-40 hits, this is 'entertainment' for sociopaths, occasionally effective but impossible to recommend with a clear conscience.
San Francisco Chronicle
Peter Hartlaub
The first 15 minutes and last half hour are terrific, and the stunningly violent middle part is only a partial waste.
New York Times
Dana Stevens
Despite its nearly nonstop torrent of gore, The Devil's Rejects is not really a horror film. It's a compendium of tributes and references to horror films of the past.
New York Post
Kyle Smith
This is a perfect B-movie, full of wicked dread.
New York Daily News
Jack Mathews
The movie features some of the ugliest people and most disgusting behavior this side of I Spit on Your Grave.
Boston Globe
Ty Burr
Rob Zombie proves he's a filmmaker to be taken seriously -- or at least not to be considered a total joke -- but he still hasn't figured out how to fashion something more than the sum of his enthusiasms.
Filmcritic.com
Nick Schager
an exhilaratingly sick joke
Los Angeles Times
Kevin Crust
Crass, vacuous exercise in grind-house stylistics.
USA Today
Mike Clark
A little of this will go a long way, and besides, who wants to see someone torturing Three's Company's Priscilla Barnes in a roach motel?
Washington Post
Desson Thomson
For the right audience, this movie is the butt-kicking, dirt-talking, blood-spurting equivalent of beautiful music.
Arizona Republic
Bill Muller
Irredeemable trash, plain and simple, gratuitously violent and sadistic and aimed at people who derive entertainment from watching other human beings suffer.
