One night bandmates Zeke, Earl and the Dick are horsing around after practice, drinking, smoking, and shooting fireworks from their crotches, when Dick (as the title suggests) is killed in a horrific accident. A comedy of errors ensues as Zeke and Earl attempt to distance themselves from their involvement in Dick’s passing. The dialogue is so funny. It manages to portray Zeke and Earl’s immense stupidity in a way that feels completely authentic and believable as opposed to say a how a Dumb and Dumber film does. This is such a weirdly enjoyable film to watch. And when you discover the true story that inspired this film and dive into that rabbit hole, it somehow makes me appreciate this film even more….and feel terrible for liking it. Just don’t look the back story up before you watch it. It might ruin some of the fun. Epic usage of a Nickelback song.
