The Conjuring 2 Ratings & Reviews
- LivewireAdmin6d agoI'm not even sure how many times I've seen this now but just a fantastic horror movie all around. The first Conjuring definitely changed the horror game and this one elevated it. The visuals were scarier, it stayed with you longer and the stakes were higher. Unfortunately I think this is the peak of the Conjuring universe and while I haven't seen every movie in the franchise, I don't think we get back to this level. Wan found such a visceral way to film these movies, it feels like we as the viewer are right there, in the action, holding our breath for the next scare. I haven't seen any other director able to match it. Valak: - 5 out of 5 - the most terrifying Conjuring entity yet. - the twist of it not being the old man and Valak controlling him to throw off the Warrens was great. - The Crooked Man avatar was also very creepy. - Valak so scary they gave it it's own set of movies (The Nun)

- RyezooFebruary 20, 2025It's not often that we get good sequels to films that are great and that's especially true when it comes to horror movies. The Conjuring 2 is an even better movie than the first one. I loved the first Conjuring, thinking it was one of the best horror films in the past few years. Director James Wan is one of the best directors in this genre with a vision that he knows how to execute. The cinematography had me blown away and on the edge of my seat. From the single take tracking shot of the camera floating through the rooms of the house to the whip pans that create horrifying tension. Though there are jump scares in this film, they are all purposely meant to scare you and it's not overdone here like other horror films. James Wan knows how to scare his audience with great camerawork and imagery. On top of looking great, the acting is top notch. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are so likable and ground this franchise in reality. You grow to love their characters and they have a meaningful arc. The kids in this, especially Madison Wolfe who plays Janet, are terrific. It's very believable when they are terrified and crying. This film is more layered than the first with Warrens having to battle their own demons on top of the Enfield Case. There may be familiar horror movie tropes in this film, but they are expertly crafted and makes this a masterpiece of modern horror.
