Where to Watch The Bourne Identity
- TanalienNovember 2, 2024Matt Damon explains the production team’s goal with The Bourne Identity: "Our hope was to build a movie that the action was integrated into, so that you invest in the characters and you really believe that their problems are problems that you might have. These kind of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances." Not only did they hit their own benchmark, they changed actions movies for good.
- James SaenzSeptember 30, 2025a lot of similarities between this and cruise’s original mission: impossible film regarding paranoia and a covert operative in a mission gone wrong, with the whole narrative focused less on big action set pieces and more on the intrigue of unraveling a mystery. i have a feeling the other installments will go bigger and bolder with the action much in the same way the mission: impossible series does, and there seems to a lot of groundwork established for the underlying world of spying that’s barely brushed on here.
- ZokkiieApril 22, 2026Hands down one of the best action movies of the 2000s. It feels so lean and efficient—no wasted scenes, no bloated runtime, just great pacing from start to finish. Matt Damon is perfect here because he plays it surprisingly restrained, which makes the action hit even harder when it explodes. The fight scenes feel raw and messy in a good way, and that Paris car chase still rules. I also love how grounded everything feels compared to a lot of louder action movies from that era. If I had one small criticism, the romance subplot is a little thin, but honestly it barely matters when the rest works this well. Just ridiculously rewatchable.
- JakeysDecember 26, 2025Austin Powers gets credit for rebooting Bond, but I think this movie deserves it. Die Another Day came out the same year. Seriously, it's a super interesting thriller wrapped in a mystery, Matt Damon absolutely delivers and is believable as a spy with amnesia, Franka Potente is equally believable, and there's a great supporting cast too - especially a small but incredible appearance from Clive Owen. Note also Walton Goggins in a blink and you miss him background character too. Finally, one of the best car chase scenes in a movie, set to one of the best soundtrack choices.
