Klasické animované fantasy dobrodružství plné magie a soubojů s mečem je jubilejním pětadvacátým celovečerním filmem studia Disney. V dávných časech žil v tajuplné zemi jménem Prydain král, který byl tak zlý a krutý, že se ho báli i sami bohové. Nikdo jeho zlobu nemohl zastavit, žádné vězení ho nedokázalo spoutat. Nakonec byl proto svržen do nádoby s rozžhaveným železem a jeho síla tak zůstala spoutána ve velkém černém kotli. Nikdo neví, kde je tento mocný a děsivý talisman schován, pouze malé čarovné prasátko. Malý chlapec Taran byl legendou předurčen k tomu, aby ochránil nejenom prasátko, ale především černý kotel, po kterém pátrá další mocný král, bažící po zlé síle.

- neuroparadox6. září 2025Messy story and editing are probably the real reason this isn't a cult classic. The side characters are forgettable... except for Gurgi, who is the most annoying, unlikeable anthropomorphic fuckup since before or after JarJar Binks.
- Richard15. srpna 2025I’ll never forget the first time I watched The Black Cauldron. I was expecting the usual Disney fare singing animals, cheerful sidekicks, and a happy ending. What I got instead was something darker, stranger, and honestly, way more intriguing. And I’ve always wondered: why didn’t this movie get the love it deserved? From the opening scene, the tone is eerie and mysterious. The land feels ancient and mythic, and the Horned King? Easily one of the creepiest villains Disney’s ever created. There’s no musical numbers to lighten the mood, and that’s part of what makes it so memorable. It’s not trying to be cute, it’s trying to tell a real fantasy story. The Black Cauldron is the misunderstood middle child of Disney’s animated legacy. It’s flawed, sure but it’s also bold, atmospheric, and full of heart. If you’re into fantasy, or just want to see Disney take a risk, give it a watch. It’s not perfect, but it’s unforgettable.
- Ray Hopkin19. července 2025This is a movie I watched as a kid, and had recollections of it being dark, frightening and really enjoyable. Watching it again some 40 years later, and it hasn't lost any of that, still dark, frightening and really enjoyable! Over the years I've heard many people criticise this movie as boring, or not having the familiarity of other Disney movies. I don't really get the boring argument, I think it's a pretty thrilling movie, with the Horned King so evil as to make the story quite unpredictable. And I think that the departure from typical Disney fare works in its favour. A great little adventure of a movie that stands up to the test of time, in my opinion.

It is some of the best animation I have ever seen in a Disney film, and the plot connects with a young boys imagination and quest for adventure.
