The Big Short Ratings & Reviews
- 0 13d agoThe Big Short stands out as a good film in a genre that often misses the mark. many finance movies either glorify unethical behavior, are overly dramatic or give inaccurate economic information, this film manages to be both entertaining and accurate. Maybe I missed a scene in the movie, but don't recall them mentioning the Federal Reserve role in the lead up to the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. The movie would have been better if it included how the FED fueled the housing bubble by maintaining interest rates significantly lower than those suggested by the Taylor Rule Model for years. When the Fed eventually began hiking rates to curb inflation, the sudden increase in borrowing costs triggered defaults on adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs), effectively popping the bubble that the film focuses on.
- wonderrxjrMarch 9, 2026It's actually insane how evil capitalism is and somehow these guys who took advantage of that evil think in the end that they're the bad guys too
- Lasse ViinikainenJuly 31, 2025A strong candidate for the best financial movie of all time.
- VandytNovember 17, 2025The best film portraying the events surrounding the 2008 crisis. Great performances set to the frenetic pace of the stock market
- JonasMay 31, 2025A great movie that really shows just how dumb and reckless people can be with money.
- Mister ArnMay 14, 2025This film takes a story about a boring complicated subject, that most people will never understand and tries to make it entertaining. Really enjoyed the historical corrections made as the scenes were playing out and the way celebrity analogies were used to explain difficult concepts. This film's star is the event, all the actors are in supporting roles, they are just there to help us understand what happened.
- Ben SzymanskiNovember 16, 2025As relevant today as when it was released.
- RYAN CALINAGANOctober 23, 2025Good movie in understanding the stock market crash of 2008 and how all the banks defrauded the people got bailed out and didn't go to jail!!

- مؤيد الحربيJuly 10, 2025The best their is, the best their was, the best will ever be 10/10
- Kevin WardJuly 1, 2025Not sure why but clips from this movie have been all over my social media feeds this week and it was enough to make me want to rewatch the whole thing. The accounting nerd in me just loves it. You don’t even need Margot Robbie in a bubble bath to get me interested in CDO tranches and credit default swaps. Absolutely incredible ensemble cast.
