It is an incredible tribute to the raw courage, resilience, and sheer nerves of steel displayed by ordinary civilian sailors during World War II. The film does a fantastic job of building tension. Instead of just focusing on explosive Hollywood-style action, it drops you right into the freezing, claustrophobic reality of a lone cargo ship stranded in the Arctic Ocean. You genuinely feel the isolation and the constant panic of being hunted by an unstoppable enemy from both the air and beneath the waves. The character development is outstanding; you see these men pushed to their absolute psychological limits, torn between their duty to deliver military aid and their basic instinct to survive.
