The Angry Birds Movie 2 Ratings & Reviews
- Daniel GustavssonOctober 11, 2024Not as good as the first one, and this relies a lot more on cliches. Frankly the whole movie feels like a "best of" collection of stuff taken from other movies. However it's kinda funny, so it does what a comedy is supposed to do 🙂 I only wish it would be more original, but then maybe everyone would have hated it, as was the case with the first one.

- Manuel FrangisMarch 26, 2025I just watched The Angry Birds Movie 2 and I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars. Just like the first one, it is bright, loud, and packed with energy, but it still did not really land for me. It has some funny parts and the animation looks great, but overall it feels like it is trying a little too hard to be wacky and random instead of actually telling a solid story. It is not awful, just not very memorable either. The story picks up after the first movie, with Red now seen as the hero of Bird Island. The birds and pigs are still enemies, always pranking each other, until a new threat forces them to team up. There is a mysterious third island launching ice balls at both of them, and Red, Chuck, Bomb, and Leonard the pig have to form a truce and work together to stop it. The idea of enemies teaming up could have been fun, but the movie gets so caught up in random jokes and side plots that it never really digs into that part. Jason Sudeikis is back as Red, and he still brings that sarcastic, anxious energy. His whole thing this time is feeling insecure about not being needed anymore, which could have made for a cool story arc, but it kind of gets buried under all the silly stuff. The movie touches on his need to be a hero, but then it jumps to the next goofy gag before really exploring it. Josh Gad returns as Chuck, Danny McBride as Bomb, and Bill Hader as Leonard, and they all bring the same vibe as the first movie. The characters have their moments, but the humor is still hit or miss. Some jokes land, but others just feel like loud distractions. New characters like Silver, Chuck’s sister, voiced by Rachel Bloom, are introduced, and she actually brings something fresh to the group, but again, the movie keeps jumping around so much that she never really gets enough time to stand out. The humor is even more over-the-top than the first movie. There are some funny bits, especially in the background or little side gags, but a lot of the jokes feel forced or just plain weird. The movie constantly throws in dance breaks, slapstick, and random slow motion scenes like it is trying to do everything at once. Some younger kids might love the chaos, but for me it just felt like too much. Now, to be fair, the animation is still really solid. Everything looks clean, colorful, and super polished. The ice island is a cool new setting, and the action scenes are fast and well done. There is also a subplot with hatchlings on a mini adventure that actually had some charm. It has nothing to do with the main story, but it might be the funniest part of the movie. I give The Angry Birds Movie 2 2.5 out of 5 stars because while it looks great and has a few decent laughs, it still feels like a movie that is just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. The story gets lost in all the noise, and most of the characters don’t get much to do. Overall The Angry Birds Movie 2 is a decent time if you want something goofy and fast-paced, but it is not something I’d go back to. It is fun in short bursts, but not much more than that.
