George Lutz, his wife Kathy, and their three children have just moved into a beautiful, and improbably cheap, Dutch colonial mansion nestled in the sleepy coastal town of Amityville, Long Island. However, their dream home is concealing a horrific past and soon each member of the Lutz family is plagued with increasingly strange and violent visions and impulses.

    My quick rating - 6.2/10. Not a bad reboot/remake, whichever they are calling it. Also, Chloe (Hitgirl) Moretz in her first movie.

    It was a good horror movie. It’s quite basic, but I still had a good time watching it. I jumped several times—it was pretty scary.

    Melissa George plays a brilliant part in this film. the remake of this true story I think is much better than the original, it has more on the edge seat moments than the James Brolin one. and Ryan Reynolds plays a fabulous part as well, its well acted by both of them.

    I don't care what the critics or anyone else says, I think this is a good horror movie. Probably my favourite Ryan Reynolds performance ever. One of the better Amityville movies, and somewhat true to the original case.

    It's only redeeming quality, really, is the fact that it stars Ryan Reynolds. Not because he's particularly good in it (he's not) but just due to how fascinatingly weird it is to see where he was in his career at this time.
