- Jacob O’Neal2025年6月5日After a slow start where I felt like it was a retread of better documentaries about Andy Kauffman, it got much better. By the time they got into his tenure on Taxi while working as a busboy at a famous LA deli I found my interest piqued. It wasn’t new information, but it was something they spent more time on than I’d seen before. That’s when the documentary really gets going…and what it does so well throughout the rest. Andy Kauffman was one of a kind. He was a comic who wasn’t a comic. He was an actor who wasn’t an actor. He was a performance artist through and through. He was so good at playing jokes on his audience that there are those out there who believe he’s still alive and never died of cancer. The best part of this documentary was seeing the clips of Andy performing, with a glimpse behind the curtain, and seeing how he set some of these things up. This film will not answer any questions about who Andy Kauffman was. It won’t even tell you much at all. And that’s okay. It doesn’t need to answer questions we don’t need answered. It just needs to show us something new about one of the most enigmatic performers who ever lived. That it does quite well. In fact, next to Jim & Andy, this is the best thing to show us Andy Kauffman the performer raw. If you’re a fan of the man then you should watch this documentary. If you’ve never heard of him before then you should watch it to understand the brilliance of Andy Kauffman.

But it makes me wonder, why wasn’t Robin Williams in it at all? I thought the Fridays plant was confirmed. And that Lorne was the one who wanted to fire Andy. I hate Ebersol now Love the Slim Whitman inclusion!

His initial performance at The Improv is complemented by a memory from the club's renowned owner, Bud Friedman. Andy's stint on "The Dating Game" remains stunning, and we even get a clip of his 1975 screen test for SNL ... where on the first episode he did his "Mighty Mouse" bit.
- Michael Foster2025年3月29日Really really good, sad, touching, and informative most of all. Gave me a lot of insight into his past and why he went ‘his way’. I had no idea how deep his opposition went— the wresting with women and on-set melt downs. Audiences eventually got so annoyed by his personas and style, which only excited him more and more. His interests flew way above entertainment. Clearly many have the sprinkles of Kaufman and influence like Nathan Fielder and others, but no one as daring with a complete disregard of normal success. One of a kind, whose story is only being better understood with Thank You Very Much.
