Tenet Ratings & Reviews
- MikeOctober 11, 2024Tenet is a bombastic, action-packed and visually stunning experience with typical Nolan time manipulation implemented "For me, I think this is the end of a beautiful friendship." I know Tenet is one of the most controversial films Nolan has made, but I personally really liked the experience it provided. When I watch an action film I do not find it a necessity to have a deep philosophical story, the experience that the action provides is what is most important for me with this genre. The reversed entropy added a new and unique aspect to this genre, which I appreciated. With Hoyte van Hoytema as cinematographer you can expect some great looking shots, and Tenet did not disappoint. The cinematography felt natural, but never boring. Also kudos to Hoyte van Hoytema and the rest of the crew for shooting scenes reversed. They did not digitally reverse the shot material, but they modified the cameras. The story itself felt a bit cold and I did not care that much for the characters. Nevertheless Tenet provided me with a great experience, mainly because it required to pay attention to the plot. Although I did understand almost everything on a first watch, the multiple rewatches made me look at the film in a different way which kept it interesting for me. This was especially important because the film lacks the emotional aspect I usually like in other films. As with every Nolan film, the score was impactful and beautiful. After hearing Hans Zimmer was working on Dune and Nolan went for Ludwig Göransson, I was a bit skeptical. But Ludwig Göransson did an great job in providing an impactful score that is up to Nolan’s alley. Not everyone is too keen on the audio mixing Nolan did with Tenet, but I personally had no problems hearing any dialog in an IMAX theater or at my Home Theater. Ofcourse it is not acceptable that a good audio system is required in order to hear the dialog in a film. Certain scenes, the airport scene for example, were ment to be focussed on the score instead of the dialog. This was done to let the viewer experience the fact that Neil was not focussing on what the man said either and I don’t think this is something everyone realizes. Overall I really enjoyed Tenet. Is it Nolan’s best film? No, but I still really enjoyed the action combined with the time manipulation, great cinematography and impactful score that provided this experience. Letterboxd: Mike_v_E

- Spaceman JoeJuly 6, 2025UNDERRATED it’s so cool
- DKonPlexJuly 1, 2025this is one of those movies where it has bad reviews not because it is a bad movie, but because its audience is not smart enough to comprehend its own complexity. if you understand this movie, you understand why its a 5 out of 5.
- Kraine OpasenJune 20, 2025“Don’t try to understand it. Just meme it.” Christopher Nolan's Tenet is a spectacle of sound, time, and confusion — a film so tangled in its own timeline, even the characters seem unsure what’s going on. It’s ambitious, polished, and loud. Very, very loud. There's inversion, temporal pincer movements, and entire conversations that sound like someone cranked the subwoofer over the dialogue. Somewhere in the chaos, John David Washington tries to save the world — forwards, backwards, and occasionally upside down — while Robert Pattinson rocks great hair and vague exposition. It’s the kind of film you watch with subtitles... and still Google afterward. A masterclass in style over clarity, Tenet has earned its place as both a cinematic puzzle and the butt of a thousand memes. Genius or gibberish? Maybe both. But one thing’s certain — time moves weird here.
- PatrikStarJune 16, 2025Nolan cooked something that tastes good, but I have no idea what I'm eating.
- sti53April 7, 2025See you at the beginning, my friend. Third watching, still noticing new elements this time around!
- Brad.Plex.October 12, 2024James Bond with time travel. Nolan once again delivers and emotional, thought provoking, action packed script akin to Inception. And as with his other films, it gets better with each re-watch as you piece together more of the puzzle and wrap your mind around temporal pincer maneuvers and causality loops.
- Jacob AllenJune 2, 2025Not for the simple minded
- sopulaMay 29, 2025Extremely cool movie, it lacks some of the emotion and massive character moments other Christopher Nolan films have but those are the parts I don't really like so 👍 Lots of fun Another reason i really liked it is because I think most of Nolan’s movies lack meaning underneath all the plot puzzles and big budget and emotional performances, but this one is different because it doesnt really pretend to mean much

- Bishop DMay 9, 2025Dare I say the greatest movie of all time
- PunisherApril 12, 2025Tenet is an Action-rich Movie in which it is about traveling back in Time. The Film is thus less visible. I like the idea of Movie very much and the Action level is kept high.
