Tangled
Directed by Tejas SonawaneGunta is a look at the thorny relationship between a struggling young filmmaker Rahi (27) and his full-time house help Gurpreet (22) In India, it is common for the middle and upper classes to hire domestic helps to do regular household work. Often, these men and women come from small towns to big cities with enormous aspirations. Unfortunately, the exorbitant cost of living in cities like Mumbai, which has some of the highest real estate prices in the world and the lack of any formal education forces them to take up whatever work they can find. In a culture where dignity of labour is largely non-existent, one would imagine this would create tremendous social tension. However, while India's rigid and highly stratified social structures help keep this house of cards from toppling over, these differences find other ways to manifest. Gunta is the story of two such individuals on opposite sides of the class divide, making an attempt to showcase their human sides and depicting the realities of everyday life in urban India.
