- mickerdoo5d agoA high school kid's view of the tribulations of sex, being young and alcohol. Cera is perfectly nervous. Hill is perfectly raunchy. McLovin!
- another92July 21, 2025There is a surprisingly sweet coming of age, separation anxiety, buddy film hidden in all of this teenage raunch. I can honestly say I did not like this movie the first time I saw it. But something drew me back to it and I find it now to be compelling engaging and like I said, surprisingly sweet.

- Manuel FrangisMarch 25, 2025I just watched Superbad again and I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This movie is still one of the funniest coming of age comedies ever made. It is loud, awkward, wild, and weirdly relatable all at once. Even after all these years, it holds up as a total classic and one of the best teen movies ever made. The story follows two high school best friends trying to make the most of one crazy night before graduation. They are hoping to get to a party, buy some alcohol, impress their crushes, and go out in style. Of course, nothing goes according to plan and that is where all the fun begins. The entire movie is basically one long disaster full of insane situations and hilarious moments. Jonah Hill and Michael Cera are perfect together. Their chemistry is what makes the whole thing work. Jonah Hill plays the loud, confident, completely unfiltered one while Michael Cera is the quiet, awkward, and painfully honest best friend. Every scene they are in feels real and funny at the same time. You can tell they are close friends and that energy makes every joke hit harder. And then you have Christopher Mintz Plasse as Fogell, aka McLovin, and he instantly became one of the most iconic comedy characters of all time. From the moment he shows up with that fake ID, it is just nonstop chaos. His subplot with the cops is totally ridiculous but somehow still fits with the tone of the movie perfectly. The humor is nonstop and totally unfiltered. There are so many quotable lines and memorable scenes that still get laughs every time you watch it. The jokes are awkward, sometimes uncomfortable, but that is what makes them work. It is a very honest look at how teenagers actually talk and act, even if it is exaggerated for comedy. The pacing is fast and fun. The movie just keeps moving from one crazy moment to the next with no real slow parts. Whether they are running through a store, dodging cops, or just having an emotional breakdown in the middle of a party, it all feels like part of one wild night that you never want to end. What makes Superbad more than just a dumb teen comedy is that it actually has a lot of heart. Underneath all the swearing and nonsense, it is really about friendship and how hard it is to say goodbye when things are changing. The emotional moments hit because the characters feel real. You remember what it was like to be that age, freaking out about the future, and not wanting to let go of your best friend. The music is awesome too. The funky soundtrack adds so much style and helps give the movie its own unique vibe. Every track feels like it was perfectly picked to match the scene and the mood. The reason I give it 5 out of 5 stars is because it just gets everything right. It is hilarious, a little insane, but also honest and full of heart. The cast is amazing, the writing is sharp, and the entire movie just feels real in the most ridiculous way. Overall Superbad is a comedy classic that still hits just as hard today as it did when it came out. It is one of those movies that you can quote forever and laugh at every time you rewatch it. I love this movie and it will always be one of my all time favorites.
