Where to Watch Straw
- Dalitso BothaApril 18, 2026This was a great watch. So many plot twists to the story and the frantic pace of the events that unfold will definitely keep you engaged. More than the suspense, it is a testament to a mother's love, highlighting the silent battles of single motherhood. That is why it is good to be kind to everyone we meet because we do not know what they are going through or how overwhelming their day might be. The film also highlights so well how the underprivileged are often treated and how they struggle to have a voice. Finally, the whole bomb and gun situation. I am flabbergasted guys. It is a reminder of how quickly a misjudged situation can escalate. It feels like we are all 'guilty until proven otherwise,' which is an unfortunate, yet very real, aspect of life today. The truth always comes out very late, when a lot of damage has been done.
- Cineit.blogOctober 14, 2025What starts as a tense and empathetic story about a desperate mother pushed to the edge quickly unravels into a frustrating mess. The movie's big "twist" isn't clever; it's a cheap gimmick that cheats the audience by showing things that never happened. Taraji P. Henson gives a strong performance, but she's wasted in a film bogged down by awful writing, gaping plot holes, and a cast of unbelievable characters. It's a manipulative and poorly executed thriller that fools you in the worst way possible.
- Jordan GreenhutAugust 1, 2025After sitting through another Tyler Perry garbage chute, I did some self-reflection. I wondered if subconscious racism was preventing me from enjoying a famous black producer. After a lot of thought, I've come to the conclusion that Tyler Perry is a terrible film maker. I challenge Tyler Perry to have one profound thought. Taraji was incredible. She was the only reason I made it through this unintelligible crap. Ftr, I love the black representation in his films, but can we get some ugly representation? Why is every character a super model? It just looks ridiculous. Show some love for the ugly people.
- texas319June 16, 2025Ummm story line was okay. The movie felt like a an easy read book. Definitely leaned on the single black struggling mom aspect…. ALOT overall okay watch while eating on a lunch break. The acting by Taraji P Henson, Glynn Turman Richmond Dunbar were good as they are seasoned actors…. Teyana should take some lessons from her husband. 😆. The scenes feels like a staged area at TPs studio. They only flow between 3-4 locations with give a lower budget feel. The story itself would be better with a solid backstory. They jump right into the struggles. Already that enough leaning in on this movie. 🍿
