During the night, a man and a woman talk to each other in his truck in front a motel. They drink and smoke in the car while discussing whether they will have sex or not and the "rules". The woman, who loves kinky sex, asks him whether he is a serial-killer or not and they decide to go to a room. On the next morning, the woman flees from the motel while the man hunts her down.

Strange Darling is a bigger surprise than Oddity this year, and that's really saying something. I had not even heard of this movie until a few weeks ago, and I am so glad I decided to give this tension-filled thriller a chance. From the very beginning, the movie states that was filmed entirely on 35mm, demanding to be seen on the big screen. And it instantly earns that. I don't want to say too much because so much of this movie deserves to be seen fully blind. However, I need to say it has some incredibly creative stylistic choices, both in structure and in cinematography. I just have to applaud the audacity. There is some gorgeous cinematography and a strong score as well. It kept me on the edge of my seat. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the excellent acting of Kyle Gallner and the star turn of Willa Fitzgerald who builds on her incredible role in The Fall of the House of Usher to put together an absolutely captivating performance. Watch this on the biggest screen possible and support this original and creative movie!

love this film - go in completely blind if you don't know anything about it. 5/5, also loudest gunshot i've ever heard in any theater

An interestingly made little movie that appears to be challenging some widespread narratives.

Just like the extreme overuse of the multi-verse writers use as a crutch for lazy & bad writing the telling a story out of order has also gone beyond over use, and is really a bad way to tell a story. It is used to hide the suck that the story and movie are. Nothing new or innovative. Same tropes. The bouncing forward and backwards thought the story telling does nothing but distract. In you're new to thrillers/horror you might be entertained like the soccer moms got all excited about 50 Shades. Almost turned it off half way through and wished I would have. Wife turns to me half way through and says, "I thought this was supposed to be exciting. Everything feels like it's in slow motion. In every scene they even talk really slow to each other."

This movie only reveals what it needs to, when it needs to do it.

It was okay, a bit random, some intense scenes here and there but some scenes just drags on. The way they split the parts didn’t really add anything to the story, just tried to confuse you for no reason.

It's very, very good and surprisingly relatable. Rewatch: Told my friend I had only seen part of this before because I wanted to watch it again and knew he would like it too, even though he's a piece of shit Leafs fan and he pimped me out to a turtle.

What a surprisingly good story. It's not what I expected but I'm very glad it turned out to be something different from the rest.

Amazing acting. Intriguing story with clever twists. Even some nice music.

Wow! What a movie. The acting is insane and kept me on the edge of the seat the whole movie. I thought the chapters would be really weird but it worked well. An absolute must see.

I echo all of the people saying this is a film that’s best to go in blind. Love the manner in which this unfolds. I was glued to the screen from start to finish. I really don’t want to say anything else for fear of giving anything away. It’s a gorgeous looking film—shot on 35mm they’re quick to point out. (Bravo, Giovanni Ribisi. That paid off. It really looks fantastic on the big screen.) Highly recommend. An extremely fun and twisted little thriller.

Director/writer JT Mollner's clever, tense take on gender politics and casual sexual intimacy gone very wrong is not only one of the most striking films of the summer but of the year.

Super weird and name fitting strange movie. At first it seems like a BDSM/50 Shadesish movie that has something else going on but that something else is pretty sinister. Sadly it's missing some deeper development to really push it over the edge for me to call it great. It is pretty good though.
