Spy Hard Ratings & Reviews
- RichardDecember 13, 2025I first picked this one up from a bargain bin on DVD and that’s exactly where it belongs, a goofy parody that leans hard into Leslie Nielsen’s deadpan charm. It spoofs James Bond and every spy cliché imaginable, with Nielsen as Dick Steele, Agent WD‑40, dragged back into action to stop General Rancor from destroying the world. The gags are broad, the plot paper thin and the jokes hit with varying success, but Nielsen’s delivery keeps it watchable. The film throws everything at the wall, musical numbers, slapstick, pop culture riffs and while not all of it sticks, it has that mid 90's parody energy that feels right at home in a bargain bin discovery. On DVD, the low budget charm is even more obvious, but that’s part of the fun. It’s not Naked Gun sharp, but it knows exactly what kind of movie it is: silly, disposable and perfect for a nostalgic laugh.
