- drakeg232d agoI'm actively trying to find critiques for it and I can't. The writing is GENIUS and the whole plot & story is not just the best superhero project-but movies in general. Everything from start to finish is so smart with how it's written. Miles is one of the best protagonists l've ever seen, they perfected cameos, and all the animation styles are super fascinating. The artistic elements in Sony animation movies are super unique, but this does it the best. THE SOUNDTRACK & SCORE FOR THIS FILM is also absolute peak. I love how they focused on Gwen more in this without making Miles sidelined. It's the longest animated feature film of all time (2hrs & 20mins), but it does not feel like and it feels like a gust of wind. And to cap it off, the movie ends on one of the best cliffhangers ever without the ending feeling abrupt. Beyond the Spider-Verse will likely disappoint but only because it has to follow up this masterpiece. This is truly a special cinematic event. This is far and away a 10/10 masterclass.

I would go out on a limb and say that this will be my sons favorite movie, forever, except I know there’s another Spider-Verse movie coming eventually....and I have zero reason to doubt this creative team anymore.

- HunterMay 6, 2025This is the best Spider-Man film, (in my opinion) that pushes the boundaries of animation. The use of colors combined with the themes and pacing makes it a great watching experience. Some people don’t like the movie because it leaves off on a cliff hanger. Even with that, the movie still works really well and tells a complete story through Gwen’s character. Overall, this is a must watch movie, especially if you are into the types of visuals and themes of the film. It is able to tell a story in ways no other movie has, beyond its amazing writing. It would be cool if the subtitles were comic text bubbles.

This film does not spoon-feed the details; to catch them, it encourages participating in the movie by meeting the audience half-way through its animation, which deserves to be picked apart frame-by-frame. Many times, you have to dig through each shot and assemble the pieces to learn what a character is thinking and how they are feeling - in ways that live-action films cannot replicate. With one of the most original movie scores since 2022’s The Batman, full character themes that act upon each other, and a sonic intensity that captures the moment, composer Daniel Pemberton has crafted the best score in recent memory. Every voice actor brings their A-game. Best-in-class animation, voice acting, and writing help bring the audience into a world with such clarity that we must surrender ourselves to the picture. This film is a great cultural service because it is teaching our future moviegoers how to watch movies.
