South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut Ratings & Reviews
- Manuel FrangisMarch 20, 2025I just watched South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut again and I would give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars. This movie is everything you would expect from South Park but on a much bigger and crazier scale. It takes the show’s signature humor and pushes it to the absolute limit with wild jokes sharp satire and some of the most ridiculous musical numbers ever put in an animated movie. If you love South Park you are going to have a blast with this movie. It takes the familiar characters and setting but turns everything up to eleven. Stan Kyle Cartman and Kenny get caught up in a controversy involving an R rated movie and the entire town goes into full panic mode. That setup alone leads to some of the funniest moments in the entire franchise. The animation style stays true to the show keeping its simple yet iconic look but the big screen format gives everything a more polished feel. The bigger budget allows for some hilarious action sequences musical numbers and over the top visual gags that would not have been possible in the regular episodes. One of the best parts of this movie is the music. The soundtrack is absolutely insane and actually really well done. Every song is both hilarious and catchy making fun of everything from censorship to war to Disney style emotional ballads. It is amazing how well the music fits into the story and some of the songs are still stuck in my head even after all these years. The humor is exactly what you would expect from South Park. It is offensive over the top and completely unapologetic. The movie does not hold back on anything making fun of everyone and everything in sight. Trey Parker and Matt Stone know exactly how to push the right buttons and the jokes hit hard. There are so many moments that will have you laughing out loud especially if you enjoy the show’s brutal style of comedy. The characters are just as great as ever. Cartman is at his absolute worst in the best way possible Kyle is dealing with his usual family issues Stan is trying to figure things out and Kenny somehow plays one of the biggest roles in the entire movie. The way they interact and get caught up in complete chaos is exactly why South Park works so well. The movie is not just a bunch of random jokes. The satire in South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut is actually really smart. It takes on issues like censorship the media and the way society reacts to controversial content. It is funny but also makes some surprisingly good points underneath all the insanity. The only reason I am not giving it a full 5 out of 5 is because some jokes feel a little repetitive and some scenes go a little too far just for the sake of shock value. The pacing is mostly great but there are a few moments that could have been tightened up. That being said it is still one of the best animated comedies ever made. Even after all these years South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut still holds up as a hilarious bold and completely unfiltered movie. If you love South Park or just enjoy dark satirical comedy this is a must watch. I had a great time watching it and I will definitely be watching it again.
