When the first trailer dropped, I remember feeling worried, it looked like the movie was headed for disaster. Sonic’s design felt off, almost unsettling and it was hard to imagine enjoying a whole film with that version of the character. But then the studio did something rare: they listened. The redesign brought Sonic back to the look fans loved and suddenly the movie felt right. Watching it after that change was a completely different experience. The humor landed, the action was fun and Sonic’s personality shone through in a way that matched the games. It turned what could have been a catastrophe into a surprisingly enjoyable ride. For me, it wasn’t just about the movie itself, it was about seeing how much better things can turn out when creators respect the audience and make adjustments.

I just watched Sonic the Hedgehog, and I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This movie was such a great time from start to finish. It had the perfect mix of action, comedy, heart, and just enough nostalgia to make longtime fans happy without losing anyone new. I went in hoping for something fun, and I got way more than that. This movie knows exactly what it wants to be and sticks the landing. Sonic is one of those characters that means something if you grew up with the games. He is fast, cocky, and full of energy — and this movie nails all of that. Ben Schwartz voices Sonic, and he brings so much personality to the role. He makes Sonic likable, funny, and actually kind of emotional at times. You can tell the voice acting was done with real care, not just to sound cool, but to give Sonic a real character arc. The story is simple but works perfectly for what it is. Sonic ends up on Earth, and of course things go sideways. He gets pulled into a wild road trip with Tom, played by James Marsden, and the two of them have surprisingly great chemistry. Their friendship drives the movie, and there are a bunch of funny and sweet moments between them that make you care about both characters. It is not just action and jokes — there is real heart under all of it. Then there is Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik. He absolutely steals every scene he is in. This is vintage Jim Carrey — all the wild expressions, fast talking, ridiculous energy, and over-the-top confidence. He turns Robotnik into this larger-than-life villain who is both hilarious and just the right amount of threatening. Watching him go full Jim Carrey again was one of my favorite parts of the whole movie. The action scenes are awesome. Sonic’s speed is used in some really fun ways. The slow motion scenes are a blast to watch, and the way he zips around during chases and fights makes everything feel exciting. The effects look great too. Sonic’s design, especially after they fixed it, is perfect. He feels like a real part of the world, and his facial expressions and movement give him so much personality. They nailed the look and the vibe. The humor throughout the movie hits really well. There are jokes for kids, but also a lot that adults will enjoy. It never feels forced or cheesy. The timing is sharp, the writing is fun, and the delivery from the whole cast keeps it moving at a great pace. It is just the kind of movie that makes you feel good while you watch it. I give Sonic the Hedgehog 5 out of 5 stars because it is fast, fun, and full of heart. It is one of the best video game movies I have ever seen and just a great movie in general. It made me laugh, got me excited, and left me wanting more. Overall Sonic the Hedgehog is a blast to watch whether you are a longtime fan or just in the mood for a fun, high energy adventure. It has great characters, awesome action, and a lot of heart. I loved every minute of it.

Okay, this game was one of my favorites from back in the day. So I do feel a little biased as I write this. That being said, the story was very entertaining and the characters are extremely lovable. The random little side bits of information absolutely bring the characters to life and really draw you in. And then there's Jim Carrey, I mean come on, he is just brilliant and plays the personality of Dr Robotnik like a fiddle.

To much freaking product placement. Also, so dang cringe. Wanted to like this, but it was such a struggle.

Really good fun, great effects, nowhere near as manic as I thought it would be and has real heart, I enjoyed it and laughed a lot

I enjoyed it. I thought Sonic was charming and fun. Marsden made a good lead. And Carrey cracked me up as an eccentric, techy Robotnik.

As a Sega fan, making sonic as a movie will go down as history in Sega, This movie is great. Even recommended even if Super Mario fans.

“well maybe someday, you’ll achieve your goal of getting a costco card, or adopting a labradoodle. but the reality is i surpassed EVERYTHING YOU’RE EVER GOING TO DO before i was a toddler. i was spitting out formulas while you were spitting up formula.” “i was breastfed, actually.“ “nice… rub that in my orphan face.” longer board game than any of us was anticipating. my brother’s never seen these movies and this was a subpar environment to watch sonic in, a disservice to the true sonic experience. it deserved his full attention. board game is fun though.

Never really been a fan of the Sonic games, but the Blue Devil won me over in this one. Also, Jim Carrey was brilliant here, as usual.

Amazing, could use a bit more backstory

Almost ruined a nostalgic character with a cringy story but then Jim Carrey comes and carries this thing like only he can.
