Where to Watch Snowtown
- Kevin WardSeptember 5, 2025Justin Kurzel’s debut is as bleak and punishing as they come. Daniel Henshall gives a chilling performance but you can really see Kurzel’s fascination with character studies leading up to horrific and historical violent events. Snowtown didn’t land quite as sharply as Nitram. I felt like Nitram was more attuned to the psychology of its subject. Snowtown, on the otherhand, has a more punishing grimness that sometimes overshadows the sense of character insight Kurzel is clearly reaching for and accomplishes a little better with Nitram. Still, it’s a really solid debut. I still need to check out his Kelly Gang feature.
