Where to Watch Small Soldiers
Small Soldiers Ratings & Reviews
- flavo43January 20, 2026Small Soldiers is a lively slice of late‑’90s action cinema, boosted enormously by its outstanding voice cast. The Commando Elite and the Gorgonites come to life thanks to sharp, memorable performances that give each toy a distinct personality and plenty of attitude. The film’s premise—military‑grade microchips accidentally turning action figures into sentient warriors—is clever and full of potential, and the special effects still hold up surprisingly well, blending practical and digital work with real charm. Where the movie stumbles is in its narrative focus. The story feels like it needed one more pass to fully explore its themes and balance its tones, occasionally drifting between satire, family adventure, and action chaos without fully committing to any of them. Even so, Small Soldiers remains a fun, energetic watch. It captures the spirit of its era with enthusiasm, humour, and a sense of playful mayhem that still entertains.
- Scott beardDecember 9, 2025⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Small Soldiers” Pure 90s Magic!! Watching Small Soldiers again was like stepping straight back into my childhood. It’s that perfect mix of fun, chaos, and slightly unhinged toy violence we all pretended wasn’t giving us ideas as kids. The CGI still holds up shockingly well for its age, the Gorgonites are loveable weirdos, and the Commando Elite are hilarious little psychopaths who somehow managed to become legendary. The whole film has that proper 90s feel with practical effects, real sets, and a soundtrack that goes way harder than a kids’ movie has any right to. It reminded me why films from that era hit different. Less polished, more heart. More charm. And it brought back that old feeling of wanting toys to come alive… but maybe not quite like that. A nostalgic gem. Still brilliant. Still fun. And still makes me wish the Gorgonites had won quicker. 👌👏👏
- RichardSeptember 29, 2025Small Soldiers might not have won over the critics, but for me, it was 108 minutes of pure nostalgic chaos. I hit play, and before I knew it, the movie was over, no dragging, no boredom, just a fast-paced ride through suburban mayhem with talking toys and surprisingly sharp satire. Yes, it’s a bit uneven. You can feel the tug-of-war between edgy teen flick and family-friendly adventure, but that tension gives it a weird charm. Critics might have missed the fun, but for those of us who grew up with action figures and a love for wild ideas. Small Soldiers is a blast. Not perfect, but definitely underrated.
- ርልዪረJuly 27, 2025Great movie for older kids and adults alike!! It's gotten bad reviews by critics but most real people enjoy it. Good/gentle vs Mean/violent storyline and great cast with some very strong actors. Sadly it was Phil Hartman's last movie and he was lost to us before he got to see the movie premier but apart from that sad note, for those of us who grew up with action figures and Barbie it's a great movie!
