The fact that this movie has tons of other horror references, besides the fact that this is a fun watch regardless, gives it a 4/5 stars for me.

Creature features are one of the most fun sub genres of horror comedy when done right & Slither is a perfect example of this. Fantastic performances by everyone in this incredible cast, absurd gore, mind controlling alien slugs - what more could you possibly want?

An absolute favorite of mine that pulled haily from "Night of the Creeps", a personal cult favorite. This has some great characters and on a recent rewatch realized that it was James Gunn's first big release, which makes a lot of sense.

Gross, silly fun that knows what it’s doing. The effects are awesome, the body horror is wild, and it never takes itself too seriously. The story’s pretty basic and it’s not that scary, but it’s a fun watch

Slither, written and directed by James Gunn, is a prime example of a film that wholly embraces its identity. It is, at its heart, a goofy B-movie horror-comedy that arrives without pretensions or delusions of grandeur, and is a fun time for anyone who appreciates the blend of humour and gore. The film operates on a simple but effective premise: a malevolent alien parasite invades a small town, turning its inhabitants into grotesque, flesh-eating mutants. The resulting action is deliberately over-the-top, mixing creature feature tropes with dark humour that is distinctly James Gunn's style, and it's a style that works perfectly for this sort of project. The energy and charm of the movie are largely due to its great cast. Nathan Fillion is the standout, delivering a charismatic and natural performance as the small-town sheriff trying to maintain order. His deadpan delivery amidst the escalating absurdity is a major highlight. He's backed by Michael Rooker and Elizabeth Banks, who both deliver solid, committed performances as a couple caught in the middle of the alien infestation. Ultimately, Slither doesn't go beyond what it is: a silly little movie and a time-killer. It is a bloody, disgusting, and funny throwback to the creature features of the 1980s. For those who enjoy their horror served with a generous helping of slime and absurdity, this is a supremely entertaining and satisfying watch.
