Saw this one on streaming, clicked play knowing full well it would be ridiculous and it delivered in spades. Nazi zombies riding flying sharks? That’s not a plot, that’s a dare. The setup is pure grindhouse fever dream: deep in the Antarctic ice, a Nazi lab is uncovered, revealing genetically engineered sharks that fly, bite and carry undead pilots with fascist fashion sense. The cast is a genre buffet, Tony Todd, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Amanda Bearse and even Naomi Grossman show up to lend cult cred. Barbara Nedeljakova and Eva Habermann bring the Euro horror flair, while Micaela Schäfer adds the kind of cameo that screams “midnight screening.” The effects are gloriously over the top: CGI sharks zoom through the sky like fighter jets, blood splatters in slow motion and the soundtrack pulses like it’s trying to summon a rave in Valhalla. It’s not about coherence, it’s about commitment. The film throws everything at the screen: gore, satire, sci-fi and a dash of grindhouse feminism. I liked it for the sheer audacity. It’s the kind of movie that made feel like a metal album cover come to life, with undead pilots, airborne predators and a plot that dares you to take it seriously.
