The handsome young seaman John Paul Jones falls in love with Kit Corbin. Kit is the daughter of admiral Ben Corbin. But John is unable to act upon his love because of social class differences. Meanwhile a perpetually angry Capt. Henry Beatty constantly abuses him while he struggles to get into the Naval Academy.
