A naughty or nice inspector of children begins to question the way they rate children. A nice but forgettable movie for Christmas.

She’s Making a List pairs Lacey Chabert and Andrew W. Walker for Hallmark’s newest holiday entry, and while the two absolutely work well together, I’m honestly at a loss as to why this movie exists in the form it does. Chabert and Walker have easy chemistry—that part works. But unfortunately, that’s about where the list of positives ends. Large chunks of the movie have Chabert talking directly to the camera, and not in a clever, self-aware way. It just… happens. There’s no clear reason for it, no consistent framing device, and no payoff. It’s distracting rather than charming, and it pulls you out of the story every time it happens. Then there’s Steve Bacic, who plays the “bad guy” of the film—except he works for Santa? The character is aggressively unlikable in a way that doesn’t feel intentional or fun, and the Santa-adjacent logic behind it never quite makes sense. The movie wants him to be the obstacle, but the writing doesn’t give him a role that actually works within the tone Hallmark is aiming for. The frustrating part is that the idea works on paper. You can see the pitch: Christmas magic, moral accounting, romance, redemption. But in execution, it never comes together. The rules are fuzzy, the emotional beats don’t land, and the story never finds the warmth or clarity it needs to sell the concept. There wasn’t much hope for this one going in—but then again, it’s Christmas, and hope is sometimes all we have. Sadly, She’s Making a List doesn’t do much with it. This is one you’ll probably watch once, forget almost immediately, and never feel the urge to revisit when December rolls around again.

Weird and quite frankly very offensive take on Schindler. 0.5 stars

Lacy Chambert was great as always. The plot was pretty lame. Watch if you’re bored.
