A wannabe rock star who fronts a Pennsylvania-based tribute band is devastated when his bandmates kick him out of the group he founded. Things begin to look up for Izzy when he is asked to join Steel Dragon, the heavy metal rockers he had been imitating for so long. This film is loosely based on the true story of the band Judas Priest.

Amazing movie for some reason lol. Based on true story of a Judas Priest tribute band singer that replaces Rob Halford in the band for a few years.

Ok, I'll be the first to admit this isn't EXACTLY how it was back in the 80s metal scene, but it's darn close! This epic film started out as a Judas Priest biopic but they soon distanced themselves from it. Too bad because this is a great movie if you lived thru this musical decade. Definitely had its haters but I freaking love this movie. Fantastic band to support Mark on stage including Zakk Wilde. Gimme blood!!

Great movie. Music is excellent. Only bad part is towards the end where it kinda drags

I get the sense that if a movie like Rock Star came out today, certain online film circles would be hailing it as boldly original. It carries the familiar rise-and-fall energy of a music biopic, but sidesteps real history in favor of pure fiction, which gives it a surprisingly refreshing edge. Drop a modern star like Austin Butler into this kind of role, release it today and it would absolutely find its audience. I chuckled when they played "Good Vibrations" during the credits.

It's so cheesy, and so good. Great fake songs, doesn't take itself too seriously and it's got Marky mark. What more do you need for a Sunday afternoon movie?

Mostly young cast who all went on to bigger and better things. Catch them here before they got the good scripts
