The scenery is nice and there’s a decent survival vibe, but the pacing feels slow and it never really pulls you in emotionally. It sticks to the basic story, but without adding much that feels new or exciting. Not terrible, not great — just an okay watch if you’re already a fan of the story
- ርልዪረ3. März 2025I teach English and use a lot of DVDs to help show the world of a book to young people. Yes, the scriptwriters have taken enormous liberties with the plot in order to create drama and pace, and increase the tension: Robinson kills a friend in a duel and has a woman waiting for him, and the battles with the cannibals are given pace and direction. But it is an 18th Century novel which are in the main often loose baggy monsters, written largely as the author went along -Tristram Shandy springs to mind or even early Dickens-and the plot has benefitted from this treatment in many ways, certainly for contemporary audiences. If I were pretentious I would mention that Wilkie Collins did the same for Dickens, when they discussed Dickens' plots or the absence of them. Notwithstanding Pierce's odd Scottish accent, this film recreates the world of Robinson Crusoe in its attention to detail of stage coaches, ships at sea, costume and the sword fights are impressively choreographed. It is also exciting for boys and my classes love it.Robinson Crusoe (Penguin Classics)

Nach einem Duell muß Robinson Crusoe überstürzt aus dem Schottland des frühen 18. Jahrhunderts fliehen. Er heuert als Seemann auf einem Schiff an und begibt sich auf eine abenteuerliche Reise. Während eines Sturms wird er von Bord geschleudert und kann sich als einziger auf eine unbewohnte Insel retten, wo er sich schließlich in sein Schicksal ergibt. Nach Jahren der Einsamkeit trifft er auf den Eingeborenen Freitag, mit dem er gemeinsam den Kampf gegen wilde Kannibalen aufnimmt und Fluchtpläne zu schmieden beginnt. Mit der literarischen Vorlage des Klassikers von Daniel Defoe hält es diese mit Pierce Brosnan ("Golden Eye") attraktiv besetzte Neuverfilmung nicht so genau, dafür jedoch umso mehr mit dem dramatischen Überlebenskampf seines berühmten Helden und actionlastigen Kampfeinlagen gegen wilde Eingeborenenstämme. Dank Pierce Brosnan wird auch dem weiblichen Videopublikum einiges Sehenswerte geboten.
