Ride On Ratings & Reviews
We Live Entertainment
Aaron Neuwirth
Judging by the setup, I expected a quick romp with Jackie Chan and his loyal horse, Red Hare. Instead, it turned into something of a career retrospective, allowing Chan to delve into emotions concerning his career through the lens of this character.
San Francisco Chronicle
Bob Strauss
In sum, "Ride On" is a fine film about a man, his daughter and the horse they both love - and of passion for how action movies used to be made.
Mark Reviews Movies
Mark Dujsik
Yang has the tendency to focus on the more gimmicky elements of this story, instead of the obvious strengths that are right there in front of the filmmaker.
NYC Movie Guru
Avi Offer
An outrageously funny and exhilarating action comedy. Jackie Chan is at his best.
New York Times
Brandon Yu
An egregiously, almost comically bad movie.
United Press International
Fred Topel
The film may be about movie veterans finding a new place in their career, but the fact that Chan still does everything may be the film's most inspiring message.
Variety
Jessica Kiang
A sappy but enjoyable slice of family fun that has a nice horse doing wacky tricks for the younger viewers and for parents and older fans... a gently meta, valedictory canter through the paddock of Chan's previous achievements.
RogerEbert.com
Simon Abrams
An unusual and ungenerous action drama.
Bounding Into Comics
Chris Sawin
Genuinely touching with a heart wrenching story that's as gripping as it is moving, Ride On delivers fast paced action with a side of uncontrollable crying and poignant satisfaction. IT is easily the most emotional film of Jackie Chan's career.
Willamette Week
William Schwartz
While there's not too much here to appeal to anyone aside from admirers of stunts, horses, and Jackie Chan, Ride On certainly makes a strong effort to sell what it's offering (with no villains, no less).
Culture Mix
Carla Hay
Ride On is unapologetically sentimental, but it's mushy in all the right places. This comedy/drama could have used better film editing, but people who like movies about lovable horses should find something to like about Ride On.
Film Legacy
Daniel Eagan
I don't want to harp on one of cinema's great figures. What I would like is a film with some bite, a story that addresses something concrete, and a style that realizes that filmmaking has changed since 1992.
Robin Holabird

...his charm still reigns plus that imposing horse fills in with a swift kick and good sense of humor whenever possible. Ride On! the movie shows Chan capable of doing just that, moving along a familiar path...
Drink in the Movies
Christopher Cross
Yang still occasionally reminds audiences why Chan's blend of action and comedy is still entertaining. Unfortunately, everything surrounding that legacy is sterile, safe, and uninspired.
Eye for Film
Jennie Kermode
Red Hare's ... repertoire of tricks is rather limited but he's wonderful at conveying emotion, and Yang uses this to great effect.
Elements of Madness
Douglas Davidson
There's not a whole lot of surprises in this heartwarming story, but it's got enough going on that longtime Chan fans won't feel let down or bait-switched.
Polygon
Pete Volk
Beyond the animal buddy-comedy antics, Ride On is primarily an ode to the bravery of stunt performers and the dangers of the job.
North Shore Movies
Daniel M. Kimmel
"Ride On" may not be Chan's last film - in fact he has several more in the pipeline - but as a tribute to the stuntman he was and those he's worked with, it's an entertaining and heartfelt effort.
Cinema Crazed
Emilie Black
The film is entertaining, but please go into it expecting horse stunts and drama more than anything else.
Aisle Seat
Mike McGranaghan
Relentlessly cheery and almost impossible to dislike.
