Frank Baum’s Star Wars (gotta wonder how many reviews of this make that comparison) Fun enough adventure flick! Derivative but also original! Truly unbelievable how young Judy Garland was but also that Fairuza’s character is “older” than Judy’s lol
- gibbensSeptember 7, 2025I love this movie. As a child I was a fan of the original movie and truth be told. I haven’t read the book but I heard that that was really good too. This movie is so unlike the first one that it’s impossible to prepare for. I first saw this film when I was a kid I was not ready for this absolute horror -the wheelers are a nightmare found in this movie. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen this movie in my lifetime… I’m 50 now but I don’t think I could ever see it enough times. It is such a wonderful story and now I want them to remake the original Wizard of Oz and follow the book closely.
- STREAM ITOctober 5, 2025This seems to be based on the book Ozma of Oz though it lacks the charm and design that the 1939 film has. No songs, even though it’s a sequel (sort of) Dorothy seems to be much younger. Everything is dark and gloomy, creepy characters, with poor fx. A twisted version of the beloved story, seemingly comes down to design. Oz looked far from magical, actually quite ordinary. The Pacing is slow, and has you wondering when this nightmare will end.
