Directed by Zoe Fishpool, Caitlin HillHazel, a game developer, is currently beta testing her "Hex" Memory Software; a memory simulator that lets you relive your past to accurate detail. Confronted by her own negativity and over-thinking whilst in her own memory, Hazel decides to manipulate the coding to ensure the smoothest, and most comfortable experience. By changing her own unique traits and quirks to better suit what she would prefer, she inevitably changes what makes her an individual. What makes her date, Austin, fall in love with her in the first place. The more she tries to change the memory to a "perfect" version, the more the memory glitches, until eventually the software takes back control. It consumes her, as our own overthinking consumes us, and Hazel loses all sense of control of the "Hex" software. Austin manages to pull her out of the software by hand and helps her re-enter her own reality, where in-fact, it was the unique traits and quirks that she showcased in the first date that helped Austin fall in love with her. Austin then enters the software to re-live their date, with his own negativity's and overthinking, but wouldn't change a single thing. Which brings us to question; would changing the parts of us that make us insecure, scared and uncomfortable, make life easier for us? Or would it just take the "life" out of living?
