Rebel Ridge Ratings & Reviews
- MobZorFebruary 5, 2025This is the best movie I have seen in a long time. It's gripping and is riddled with corruption at every turn. Must-see for any crime movie lover.

- Mezevenf1d agoGood action flick, nothing special.
- SpoonsAugust 18, 2025Rebel Ridge (2024) is a decent corrupt cop thriller. Entertaining enough but caught in the middle. Too light for the plot, too flat to be funny. A solid time killer, best suited for when you just need something to watch.
- Kevin WardJuly 1, 2025So good. The tension carried from start to finish. Evil Don Johnson is the best Don Johnson. And I loved the emphasis on non-lethal combat. On the downside, I think I just introduced my wife to Aaron Pierre.
- DanglyAnteaterJune 25, 2025Thousands of dollars for a used Salsa with a broken rear wheel? Ridiculous.
- HakihikoJune 20, 2025Tense, Smart, and Gritty "Rebel Ridge" is a gripping thriller that delivers exactly what you want from the genre - intensity, clever writing, and a protagonist you can root for. The pacing is sharp, keeping the tension alive throughout, and it knows when to explode into action without ever becoming mindless. The movie is driven by strong performances, especially from the lead, who brings a grounded energy to the chaos. The atmosphere is thick, almost claustrophobic at times, thanks to solid direction and an unflinching look at themes like systemic injustice and survival. While not reinventing the wheel, "Rebel Ridge" elevates familiar elements with smart execution. The script is lean and punchy, the visuals are gritty without feeling forced, and there's an underlying anger in the storytelling that gives it emotional weight. A tense and satisfying ride with brains and brawn in equal measure.

- rg9400November 1, 2024Rebel Ridge takes a fairly stereotypical story and makes it its own. At the beginning, you might feel like you've already seen this story played out a hundred times, a Rambo-esque start. However, the movie kind of swaps things in subtle ways that compound once it finishes. Instead of a trained good cop, it is now a random person just trying to get his cousin out of jail. Instead of a bloody rampage, the character at every turn tries to keep things civil, tries to prevent unnecessary death. The end result is a movie that feels like it has more to say about systemic injustice and a man trying to navigate it the best he can. I appreciated this aspect of it, but I also feel like the movie suffers from being overlong unnecessarily, with the middle being a bit slow. It also doesn't really reckon with the racial aspect outside of the beginning. It's sort of there in the subtext initially, but it quickly becomes about general corruption instead of that. Finally, I found the very ending a bit anticlimactic and strange. I think I understand what the director was going for, but it came across almost like it undercut some of the messaging as well as not really being developed enough over the course of the movie.
- Patrick and NancyOctober 9, 2024A sleeper hit for sure. Much better than I thought it would be.
