Reagan Ratings & Reviews
- Manuel FrangisApril 3, 2025I just watched Reagan, and I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This movie really surprised me with how powerful and emotional it was. I went in expecting a standard biopic, but what I got was something much deeper. It is a thoughtful, well-acted, and respectful look at Ronald Reagan’s life that really focuses on the man behind the presidency. Whether you agree with all his politics or not, this film makes it clear why he was such an important and fascinating figure in American history. The movie covers a lot of ground. From his early days as an actor and union leader in Hollywood to his time as governor and then as president, it shows the full arc of his life. But instead of just checking boxes and listing events, the story takes time to show what he stood for and what he believed in. It is personal, and that makes it feel real. Dennis Quaid gives an amazing performance as Ronald Reagan. He captures his charm, his confidence, and the way he carried himself, but also shows moments of doubt, struggle, and reflection. You can tell he took the role seriously and wanted to get it right. There is a calm strength in his portrayal that pulls you in. It does not feel like someone pretending to be Reagan. It feels like you are actually watching him at different points in his life. The supporting cast is great too. They help bring each stage of his journey to life. Penelope Ann Miller plays Nancy Reagan, and her performance is full of warmth and strength. You really feel the bond between them. The movie makes it clear how much she meant to him, not just as a partner but as a source of constant support. Their relationship is one of the best parts of the film. The storytelling is structured in a way that keeps things moving while still allowing space to reflect. It is not told in a straight line. Instead, it jumps back and forth a little, showing how different moments shaped him. There is a lot of focus on his ideals, his belief in America, and his ability to communicate with people. It reminds you why he was known as the Great Communicator. The film also does a good job balancing personal life with public events. You see the toll of leadership and the pressure he faced, but you also see the quiet moments. It does not shy away from difficult subjects, but it handles them with care and honesty. The tone is respectful without feeling like it is trying to paint a perfect picture. Visually, the movie looks really good. The period settings, the wardrobe, and even the way it is filmed all feel authentic. The score is emotional but never overwhelming. It just adds to the atmosphere and helps carry the more powerful scenes. I give Reagan 5 out of 5 stars because it is a moving and thoughtful film that goes beyond the surface. It tells the story of a leader, a husband, and a believer in something bigger than himself. Overall Reagan is a strong and emotional tribute to a man who left a huge mark on history. It is not just about politics. It is about legacy, belief, and how one life can change so many others. I thought it was powerful from beginning to end.
